Can you please list all compatibility issues here: http://dashcommerce.org/forums/t/80.aspx. So that we can look them over?  Also code suggestions always help.

    Thanks,

I saw it as a big problem, big enough that I spent about 2 hours trying to solve it, and was willing to keep at it until it was solved even if it to me 100 hours.  I need my administrator to be able to edit the site even if he or she uses linux (which means he or she cannot use IE...).

Thankfully, the solution was rather simple once I stopped trying to tweak the code and started researching about this third party control Free Text Box... I upgraded from version 3.1.5 to 3.1.6 (overwriting all files installed by DashCommerce) and voila! Firefox works.  Incidentally, it actually works better in Firefox than in IE now on some minor issues, which is good, since in this case, the administrator will only be using Firefox to administer the site.

I have to say that I am sick of the "well, all the other CMS require you to use IE, why should this be any different?"  This software is Open Source... in light of that, the community expects more.  They expect to be able to use Open Source browsers with this open source software.  They are told it is cross browser supported, yet this is the response?  YES.  It is important that the admin page function in 2nd most used browser available which works on every major and most minor OS platforms.  IE does not run on linux or Unix, delays releases for Mac (if they will even release another IE for mac... who knows?), so Firefox is the most important browser simply because of it's support to run on practically anything that calls itself a computer (I even got FF2 to run in Windows 95 for a customer... talk about compatible with any OS).

Anyways, since I'm "new here" and don't know how to do anything with the bug system, I thought I would put the fix here for those that will search later.

What problems are you having with the Content Editor? I alo use firefox and it seems fine here. In dC 3.0 it uses the FCKEditor which is much better than the one on dC 2.2 can you explain the problem please?

    Hi

I would also be interested to know what problems you have been experiencing with Firefox using FCKEditor. In the past I have always had browser issues with these types of editors and I have found it very frustrating. I am in search of the best option even if it costs.

There is another editor that claims to work in Firefox and IE etc called CuteEditor from http://cutesoft.net/

Can anybody suggest which is the the best in Firefox and IE comparing FCKEditor / Free Text Editor/ Cute Editor / Any Other Options?

Call me old school but I often prefer browser compatibility than a good dose of ajax kung fu. You can write very clean, user friendly, and good looking applicaitons using only thoroughly tested (non java-script) based techniques.

I wonder where dashCommerce stands on this. I see a lot of javascript based stuff everywhere. Any thoughts or opinions?

PS: I just started testing the software out but plan on going deep into using this system.

I just used the FCKEditor in Firefox and I didn't experience any problems, so if someone is having problems with it, they would need to be more explicit about the problems they are having. Cross browser compatibility, while not a huge aim of the project, is there and I do test in IE and FF.

As far as the amount of Javascript - I think the project uses very little and I try to only use it (and Ajax) where I think it improves the experience. But, different people have differenct levels of tolerance here. Aside from this thread, there is very little discussion on the topic, so that leads me to believe that for most, this is not a significant issue.
