    Incorrect syntax near '0x0a0d'

Why do I seem to be having such a problem with this?

First, I don't need/want to have a local working copy -- I just want to get things running on my host.

Second, I believe I've followed the instructions. Here's what I've done:

    • Downloaded a freh copy
    • Unzipped
    • Opened the .SLN file in VS2008 and let it convert it so it can run in VS2008 and ASP.NET 3.5

NOTE: I also did this without the conversion and left it as ASP.NET 2.0 with the same results

    • Built the solution
    • Created a new SQL database and user, checked to be sure the File Search was enabled
    • FTP'd all files in the WEB directory to my host
    • Went to http://www.MYWEBSITE.COM/install/install.aspx, got the first screen
    • Clicked next, filled in the database information, and received error "Incorrect syntax near '0x0a0d' over and over in the Message box.

I've tried this several times this week, with different downloads, and different domains etc., and that's as far as I've been able to get.

Does anyone have any constructive ideas of how I can get past this mess?

    Hi Bruce,

You might remember me, I'm the guy that helped out with this last time :)

The last time, you had some corrupted files, so you'll want to check that. In your case it was easy to spot because there were goofy lookin' symbols in the .sql files. Check them out @ install/scripts.

Also, I'd like to suggest a new program we are starting called "dashCommerce Ready-to-Run" - this is are hosted solutions where we will do the installation for you and work with you to ensure all of your configuration is ready and correct. Then, you just load up your products and start selling stuff. There will be different options and such, but you get the idea. This may alleviate some of your grief and allow you to focus on delivering.

Thanks for the clues, Chris - I'm going to go try the whole rigamarole over again. Will certainly check those scripts!

The Ready-to-Run sounds great, and should be a very successful offering! Unfortunately I've already committed to two clients with other arrangements and need to get this to work on their hosting!

    Answer

I would also recommend zipping (compressing) the files then upload the zip file to the host and unzip with the hosts tools (If thay give such a tool)
That will upload a lot faster and less chance for corruption.

    Re: Incorrect syntax near '0x0a0d'

That's a great idea - and one I never even considered! Thank you!

P.S. It worked!!! Obviously something was getting regularly corrupted when I used my FTP program to upload the files to my host. Once I zipped the WEB directory after building the solution and making sure all the files were in place in the BIN folder, I uploaded the ZIP to my host, unzipped it there, and ran the install -- after all this frustration, that was almost TOO easy!  Wink

To Chris and yitzchok - Thank You!!!!
