Confused [*-)] Bulk quantity discounts not really answered

The post regarding Bulk Quantity discounts requires the customer to enter a coupon code for a percent discount.  This is not the same as having tier pricing based on quantity, not to mention that would be a pain for the customer.

So, how do you do quantity discounts?  In a different software package, it has a format of:

    1-5:1.00; 6-10:0.95; 11-15:0.89;16-20:0.78; 21+:0.75

where the first range is the quantity, the second number is the price each for that tier, and the semi-colons separate tiers.

I put this example to illustrate how incredibly difficult the pricing would be if you had to type coupon codes (every single product would have a different code.)

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

smacker, have you found a solution. I found code for an older version, I really don't have time to retrofit it.

Anyone else have a solution to this?
