    dashCommerce 3.0 and Sitefinity

I just noticed that a new advertiser here on the forums is Sitefinity, who offer a free Community version of Sitepoint 3.0 - a Free .NET CMS. Very impressive software (based on looking through the site and watching some of the videos there), and very gracious of them!

However, if they are advertising here, I'm thinking that there must be a fairly easy integration between their product and dashCommerce. Is that just wishful thinking, or is it possible for someone like myself who is a better designer than developer?

Wishful thinking. Sitefinity is a stand alone, commercial application.

Ummm... yes - to a certain degree. However, they talk in their forums about integrating eCommerce apps within their CMS framework. They even mention working on their own ecommerce module based on CSK! Take a look:

It seems to me (and I make no claims to being brilliant) that one could setup a site (www.mysite.com) using the Community version of Sitefinity (limited to one "User"), then perhaps create a subdomain (store.mysite.com) to contain the dashCommerce ecommerce side of things. That could be a beautiful thing!!!

The Community version of Sitefinity can indeed be used in commercial situations. So theoretically, I can develop the Sitefinity site for a small business client, insert the dashCommerce store as a subdomain, and pass along the User Name and Password to the site owner. I think it has awesome potential.

You're sounding a bit like the Wizard there, Chris... do you have some knowledge or insight that leads you to believe that my idea is impractical/bad/impossible or something similar? Do you just think that the two products wouldn't play nice together? I would appreciate your honest opinion here, rather than this mysterious "stuff!" Huh?

I'm not trying to be mysterious - you can do what you are suggesting - make a main site with a CMS and then subdomain the store. It's a pretty common model, so I am just trying to validate what you are suggesting. Smile
