    Food Tax

I am looking at moving my website to dasCommerce and needed to find out how the dashCommerceTaxProvider handles food items.  Some of the products I sell are food items and taxed at a differenet rate in differenent states.  Is this handled by dashCommerceTaxProvider?  How?

The dashCommerceTaxProvider will return a rate based on the postal code of the shipping or billing address. The dashCommerceTaxProvider works for the US and Canada. And we've recently lowered the price to make it extra applealing Smile

Ok, but does it distinguish between categories of items?  For example, in Indiana there is no tax on food, so many of the item I sell (supliments) are not taxable, but others are (at 5%).  Can it distinguise this?

No, the web servie has no knowledge of product categories and what tax needs to be applied. You'd have to program that into your site.
